Delhi District Court Jobs 2024: The story of Delhi District Court dates back to the time when Proclamation Notification No. 911 was issued on 17 September 1912. This proclamation officially recognized Delhi as its legal entity. This placed Delhi under the direct authority of the Governor-General of India in Council. Mr William Malcolm Hailey, CIE, ICS, took over as the first Chief Commissioner during this period. Simultaneously, the Delhi Law Act of 1912 was passed, making it easier to enforce laws in the territory.
The district structure of Delhi is made up of its 11 revenue districts. At the beginning of January 1997, there were a total of nine revenue districts in Delhi. In September 2012, the city had 11 districts with the addition of South East and Shahdara districts. Due to this expansion, all 11 District Commissioners had to assume the role of District Magistrate.
